Why Games? Why These Games?

Put fun back into teaching K-6 math! Make math games an overt part of your math acquisition strategy for your kids. Learn how to enhance important thinking skills while still achieving basic fact mastery!

These math-related games and materials promote and enhance important mathematical skills - computational skills (basic fact practice, mental math, order of operations) as well as number sense and other higher order thinking skills (algebra preparation, concept development, logic, geometric visualization, multi-step problem solving, and “big picture” thinking). These math games and materials can be used as regular replacements for unnecessary and/or tedious textbook activities. In other words, they can supplement and enrich any math curriculum.

You can download a document detailing the rational for each game in the following formats.
